|'Two Girls' getting their hands dirty|
DeeAnn McCoy and Jackie Thomas make a living defying expectations. They buy houses with the motto, “the uglier the better,” then tear them apart. They bring ultra-modern furniture and wallpaper into classic mid-century modern houses, then pull vintage accents back in to design. They left high-level marketing and advertising jobs to do it. Now, local experts say their company, Thomboy Properties, is one of the best in the Palm Springs renovation world.
Thomas & McCoy have had a love affair with the desert dating back to the 80’s. In 2005 they bought their first place in the Palmer & Krisel designed Canyon View Estates and began plans to extract themselves from their corporate jobs. They targeted 2010 to make the move to Palm Springs full time.
In 2010, during the worst economic climate in a generation, they stepped away from the safety of their marketing and advertising careers to pursue their passion for mid-century modern architecture and formed Thomboy Properties, Inc. The company’s philosophy is simple: respect the beauty and simplicity of design from the past and re-imagine it for the way people live today. Ensure that work which was authentic then, remains authentic now.
Having grown up playing competitive sports at the highest levels, the Girls understand how invaluable teamwork is to success. Vision, collaboration, attention to detail and above all else, execution are what make a Thomboy Property.
“Ideas without execution is just hallucination.” – Thomas Edison
