CALIENTE

First Place

While we did not have the pleasure of meeting Betty First, the previous owner, in person, we were blessed to meet her children, their spouses and friends who knew her. And by all accounts she was amazing. She was fit, fun, fabulous and adored by all. It should therefore be no surprise that when we set out to renovate this house we wanted all those same characteristics reflected in the renovation and re-design.

This Stan Sackley designed home was unveiled as a featured home during Modernism Week 2019. The James Bond-style interior enjoys wrap around mountain views from every angle & sits on one of the most coveted streets in Indian Canyons. Designed to be authentically in tune with the 1970s vibe-from the dark terrazzo-inspired floors that stretch across the living spaces to the dark brown walls, colorful & graphic wallpaper to the geometric tiles that create stunning dimensions and a soulful atmosphere. The architecture, with its crisp white and linear exterior presentation, in addition to the dark, rich and colorful interior is reminiscent of the era: open, free and sexy.

The new kitchen which pulls from the same rich pallet with walnut cabinets, dark bronze hardware, quartz countertops and porcelain tile backsplash with gradient desert tones is punctuated beautifully with modern, high-end JennAir appliances. The bathroom renovations continue the dark & sexy scheme with tonal grey tile, walnut cabinets & Brizo fixtures.

This house features amazing indoor-outdoor flow with all new commercial grade windows & sliders in dark bronze finish. The new pool, spa, outdoor kitchen and fire feature are the perfect place to entertain while offering complete privacy from the street with walls of glass off the rear of the home that celebrate the majestic San Jacinto Mountains. If you’re not careful you might find yourself transported back to the days of the of the pleasure dome where glorious self expression was en vogue and life was a wonderland. We hope Betty would be proud.
